Together, let’s make a splash
The Texas temps are starting to rise and pool season is upon us! If you have been following along, the pool needed some major repairs after last summer.
We need your help keeping the pool a big part of people’s memorable experiences while at Tejas. Telling others about Jesus is fun and what better location to do it then while playing at the pool!
We have been diligently working on major repairs for our pool to be ready for this summer. We now have a new slide installed, plaster replaced, sundeck coating on the concrete all around the pool, replaced old pumps and getting excited for campers! We have done all this work in faith of God’s provision so we can be ready for summer.
Will you seek God’s direction for your involvement with this project?
This is an exciting time at Tejas and I know the vision God has for us is going to be fruitful as Jesus transforms lives at Tejas.

“Let me tell you how great God is…” – A Moment with Morgan

If you’ve been around Tejas in the past 4 years, you probably recognize this smiling face! Laura Carpenter is our Recreation Coordinator here at Tejas.
Laura attended Southwest Baptist University, where she played soccer and studied Elementary Education. After graduating, her original thought was to do long-term missions through hosting VBS in various locations, inspired by multiple mission trips to Mexico. After learning about camp ministry, her passions changed, and she realized that camp was exactly where she wanted to be.

Laura first learned about Tejas through the CCCA (Christian Camp & Conference Center Association) website. After graduating college, she joined summer staff in 2019 and interned that fall. In 2021 she signed on to full time staff as the Recreation Coordinator.
When I asked her what she enjoys most about her job at Tejas, she laughed and said, “That’s a lot of pressure, because how do you pick one thing?” She continued, “I just like to be there. I look forward to coming in, and I enjoy that there are so many people and moving parts.” Laura followed up by saying how much she enjoys watching groups come year after year. She enjoys the consistency and opportunity to continue relationships.

Going into this summer, Laura mentioned how excited she is to get to know the new summer staff. She always looks forward to meeting the new staff and learning what jobs they prefer. I asked her if she could give a word of wisdom to the summer staff, and she said, “Invest in each other. Summer has long hours and is hard, but summer also has the ability to grow you spiritually and mentally.”
It’s always refreshing to be around people like Laura who are so invested in the mission of Tejas. Laura is a good reminder to all of us to give 100% in everything we do. Be praying for us as we approach this summer season – let us always remember why we are here – to set the stage for Jesus to transform lives.
