The Power of a Summer Spent at Camp
This past week, our summer staff arrived for the season! There are few greater privileges than watching the next generation of Jesus-followers bring camp to life.
A family who can testify about the power of a summer spent at camp are the Carlisles. I got the privilege of chatting with Amy and Emma Carlisle, a mother daughter duo who are no strangers to camp.
Emma (daughter) and Amy (mother) Carlisle

The Carlisle family came to camp for the first time when Amy was asked to be the Mother Daughter guest speaker. Amy said, “It was amazing how quickly Tejas became such an important part of our lives.”

After attending several family events at Tejas, Emma decided to join the summer staff team for 2022. When I asked her about her summer, she told me about how nervous she was at the start since Tejas was her first job ever. She went on to say how valuable it was to be pushed spiritually, socially, and physically. Emma said, “The money was the least valuable thing I earned this summer.”

This upcoming summer, we are so excited to welcome back Emma and now her little brother Charlie. Emma is excited for this season, saying she is ready to “help the younger staffers like she was helped.”
Stories like these increase my anticipation for the summer. Please join us in prayer for our summer team and the groups we will host this summer. God has big things in store, and we are eager to be a part of it.
