Sowing Seeds Of God’s Love

Nov 21, 2015

SOWER is an acronym meaning Servant On Wheels Ever Ready. The home office is located in Lindale, Texas. Their ministry began in 1983 as the founders traveled throughout the country assisting travelers in need. While serving with other “help” organizations the founders began to see a need for a distinctive ministry outlet that would allow Christian RVers to come along side other ministries in need of property maintenance. Today SOWERS has a membership of just under 750 couples and serves roughly 175 Christian ministries throughout the US and Canada. Mike and Bonnie Griffin are two servant-hearted people who have found God working to advance His kingdom and joined Him in His mission.

Bonnie and I are both retired public school educators. We learned about the SOWER ministry while I was serving as a camp director. After spending some time with them, attending their daily devotionals, and seeing the joy they exhibited while serving others, my wife and I were encouraged to consider joining the ministry. A short time later we became part of the SOWER ministry.

God has fulfilled the desires my wife and I were given in our service with SOWERS. It is a blessing to work with other believers on projects. Our love for the Lord is renewed daily and our appreciation for the work completed at the cross grows.

In 2014, Tejas was one of our SOWER projects. We met staff and interns devoted to making a place that invites every guest to experience God’s glory and beauty in a peaceful environment. Originally we had only planned to work at Tejas for the month of November, but after learning about the opportunity to serve during their Lights of Tejas event we decided to stay. It turned out to be a blessing! We witnessed thousands of people visit Tejas to enjoy over one million Christmas lights. Each person also heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. We are so thankful God has let us be a part of such a wonderful ministry.

It is a blessing to see God at work at Tejas, but it is an even greater blessing to see how God is at work all across the world.
