On August 17th, Tejas said goodbye to the first participants in our year-long Remain Internship program. These students each focused on a specific area of ministry while they were here, from Outdoor Education to Media to Guest Services and more. Tejas got to see each individual grow spiritually as they took time to soak in God’s word and live it out through acts of service. These interns paved the way for our future interns, giving feedback on the experience and sharing what they have learned. Check out what they had to say:
“I’ve heard it said that your first year out of college can be one of the most formative ones of your life, and that in it you learn so incredibly much about yourself. I certainly found this to be true during my internship at Tejas. Some of the insights into myself were great, and some were not so nice. But even in the not-so-nice things, Christ was at work. He loves us too much to let us stay the same. At camp, I’ve found an abundance of freedom, especially creatively. To be able to have my hands in the creation of Pages magazine, photography, videos, and various other design projects was just incredible. I am leaving camp with a truly unique set of skills – from tractor driving to high ropes to graphic design – and it fits me so well. A life in Christ was never meant to be boring, right?” – Robyn
“I believe that my time here has prepared me for so many things that I might face in all areas of life, like planning and running events for large groups, or managing people and learning to deal with difficult situations, or learning to rely on God when things get tough. I met many great people and had wonderful times with them and if I could do it again, I would in a heartbeat.” – Mikey
“After college, I just wanted God to lead me where I was meant to be, and He brought me all the way to Texas from Seattle with about a week’s notice. I’d worked at a camp during my summer breaks in college and loved it, and since coming to Tejas, I have learned more about myself than I ever imagined. This internship has been so much more than just a job to me – it has been a sensational, life-altering experience from which there is no returning.” – Sarah
One week after their departure, 10 new and excited interns stepped onto Tejas ready to begin their own journey. Please pray with us for this next year of the Remain Internship, that God will continue to teach and mold each intern to look more like His son.
