As you drive into Tejas, some of the first structures you see are the log cabins. They have been there since the 1970’s and have withstood brutal storms, high winds and torrential rain. They have served this place well and have provided a unique, comfortable place for thousands of people to stay over the years.
However, there comes a time for change. The log cabins have reached that point and are now in the process of undergoing a face lift. The logs are going, the roofs are being replaced and the floors will be updated.
We have started with Log Cabin A already. The logs have been removed and have been replaced with cedar siding which will be trimmed in red. Soon a new red metal roof will be installed along with new windows. On the interior, the bathroom is gaining a new sink and wood floor.
Along with the structural update, the renovated cabins will have brand new carpet, luxurious bedding and light fixtures as well as some new decor. It will be a slightly more modern, clean take on “a cabin in the woods.”
Because the exterior will no longer be logs but cedar, we are thinking of calling these updated cabins “The Cedars”. We hope that they too will be able to provide thousands of guests with a relaxing, comfortable place to get away from the day-to-day to focus on the eternal and grow closer to Christ Jesus.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
