Family Ties
I recently had the privilege of speaking at the Northwest Sectional of the Christian Camp and Conference Association, held just outside Seattle, WA.
The conference’s theme, ‘Family Ties,’ provided a powerful backdrop for my presentation on leadership within camp ministry. I shared stories from my own family history – my great-grandfather’s pastoral work in the Middle East, my large family upbringing, and my current family – to illustrate the profound influence of family on our lives and leadership.
I focused on the importance of leading with conviction, resilience, and character, and the necessity of leading alongside others. Using our family experiences, both positive and challenging, shape our ‘baggage,’ and how we must allow Jesus to refine us through these experiences.
It was an honor to represent Tejas and contribute to an event dedicated to equipping leaders to set the stage for Jesus to transform lives.
“We all come with baggage… some light, some heavy…
so how do we use the bags given to us?”
