4/13 – Tejas – Don’t Go Alone

Apr 13, 2021

Don’t Go Through Life Alone

A girl recognized me and approached me heading into a breakout session. We put together that we were in the same sorority in college. She was not walking with Jesus in college or post grad. She said a few weeks ago she decided she wanted to know Jesus. She started watching online services and signed up for the whole weekend of the retreat to try to make Christian friends to help her. God met her at the retreat, and she wants to fully give her life to Christ. We are going to start meeting for discipleship next week. Praise God for pursuing her, radically stepping into her story, and sending her to the women’s retreat to bring her to Him!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:24-25

Community… it’s important

I get to hear so many great stories like the one above. Seeing Jesus working in people’s lives is such a blessing. Some people can name the time and place where they met Jesus. For others, it is experiences and little steps that lead them to a loving relationship with Jesus. Either way, at Tejas, Jesus is bring them into His arms and saving lives, and we have the privilege to be a part of that story.

We are part of a larger community, and our walk with Jesus includes being with people who will encourage us. Tejas gets to help through retreats, summer camps and family getaways. Ministry is happening as we set the stage for Jesus to transform lives.

This year has been tough to gather together. Please take heart and be encouraged, reach out, and plug in virtually or in person. Be a part of a community of believers and see your walk with Jesus flourish.

Financial Giving Celebration

If you have been following our story over the last year, there have been many needs being met by Jesus through generous givers. Here are some current stories that we can celebrate together.

  • The winter storm was devastating, but thankfully insurance is helping out. Unfortunately, due to our need to cut costs, we had raised our deductible to $25,000 to continue to insure all our facilities and guests. Our internal goal was to raise enough to cover the deductible. Without us putting the amount out there, Jesus provided $26,871, along with countless gifts in kind and volunteer help. Now our facilities are even better than before the storm!
  • Part of our plan with COVID-19 is to provide location opportunities for smaller groups to gather. One of the ideas was to create several half-court basketball courts around the facility. This would allow for less people needing to gather at the main court. Alpha Paving out of  Round Rock has stepped up and will be donating the forms and labor, Lauren Concrete will be donating the material, and donors are stepping up to help put a recreation surface on the pads and install basketball goals. The need is $15,000 and $12,500 has been given to date!
  • Before COVID-19, we had begun work on upgrading the sound and lighting in the Marmax conference room. Due to financial strain this year, we had to halt that project until we knew groups were coming back on a consistent basis. The funding source was going to be user fees from the summer of 2020. Groups are thankfully coming again and we look forward to a wonderful summer. But we need help with this project. The labor is being donated by Those Brothers, Inc – Sound and Lighting and we are needing $12,000 for supplies. So far, $4,700 has been given in 1 week!

As you can see, I am very excited about how Jesus is helping us fund the work here at Tejas. I am also encouraged by the number of people giving whatever they can, as it all adds up to these needs being met. You are being a part of setting the stage for Jesus to transform lives.
