We aren’t out the woods yet… and I’m OK with that.
I enjoy a good hike through the woods. I grew up in Virginia where the trees are tall and the views throughout the state testified to God’s creativity. I love the woods! Yet the phrase “We aren’t out of the woods yet” has come to mind several times, along with the desire to get out of them quickly!
But… I am OK with being in the figurative woods and don’t mind staying here for a while. “Why?” you might ask. Well, I am learning that God’s works are more visible to me in the times where I might seem lost and still looking for a way out. In this state, we tend to stop and recognize God’s presence. He is right here walking beside us in the good and bad times. Why not enjoy every moment no matter the circumstance?
So my prayer for you today is that you will see God at work in your life and praise him. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, share what you are experiencing with family and friends and be that testimony for how Jesus transforms lives.
As for Tejas, we are doing well and God is providing in so many different ways. Groups are starting to come more regularly and also planning for future experiences at Tejas. We are not out of the woods but we are seeing so much provision and partnership and we have a lot to be thankful for.
Where is Lights of Tejas?
First off, we are still planning to host a fun holiday event and we want you there! But this year we are needing to go a different direction due to COVID-19. Considering your safety and our smaller staff, we had to make some adjustments.
This year we are splitting Lights of Tejas into Thanksgiving at Tejas and Christmas at Tejas.
Thanksgiving at Tejas (Nov 27-29) is going to be a full weekend of fun for the family. Come join us for a time of playing outside, escaping our “Cabin Fever” room, hayrides, Christmas Tree lighting and most importantly, thanking Jesus for all he has and will continue to do in our lives. If you are looking for a safe, family friendly environment to spend with your family, come join us for our first Thanksgiving at Tejas!
The second event will be Christmas at Tejas (Dec 18-22). Join us for 1 of our 5 nights of Christmas lights, family activities, great food and a special campfire experience where we share the Christmas story together. This event will be different than years past as it is designed to be a more intimate experience for your family. Plus, you won’t want to miss out on that amazing waffle and omelet breakfast the next morning. Staying the night at Lights of Tejas has been a past favorite and we would love to be a part of your family’s Christmas and help make it a special one with Christmas at Tejas.
As we continue to build out these new events, make sure to check out our website to see all we have planned! www.mytejas.org/getaway/
